Description
Farmers make Fish Amino Acid (FAA) by fermenting fish into a nutrient-rich liquid. FAA provides immense value to plants and microorganisms because it contains abundant nutrients and diverse amino acids that supply nitrogen (N) to crops.
Crops absorb FAA directly and microorganisms increase their activity when exposed to it. Like animals, plants require amino acids for growth. Since plants cannot synthesize sufficient amino acids on their own, FAA fills this gap.
Amines and organic ring compounds such as indole and pyrrol, which play vital roles in vegetative growth, flowering, and productivity, often limit crop performance when present in small quantities. Enzyme activity and fermentation of fish and meat waste produce these compounds, and farmers deliver them to crops through foliar sprays.
🌱 How to Use FAA in the Garden
- Dilute FAA with water before application. Mix 5ml of FAA with 1000ml of water in a spraying can.
- Spray the diluted solution on leaves, wet soil, and flowers to nourish plants.
- FAA, rich in nitrogen, encourages vigorous plant growth during the vegetative stage.
- Farmers apply FAA to both soil and foliage for maximum benefit.
- FAA also repels insects such as worm moths and mites when used as a foliar spray.
- Spray diluted FAA on both sides of plant leaves with a spray bottle for effective pest control.
